Some of our cats are pretty cool! Greta is an amazing doggy-wannabe! Nealee is able to fly with just one arm! Hector is a great big brother to Nealee. Baggins is about the biggest cat I've ever seen; he's nearly my size!
But the cats in the following video are pretty cool too! They made me laugh out loud!

TRIVIA
Well, March is almost over, and my April Trivia Challenge will begin on Tuesday. If you are intersted in changing any of the categories (I know, Literature has too many Dark Tower questions!), let me know. I may have my momma help me put a poll on the site, to give you a chance to vote.
Thanks for playing trivia here! I hope you're having fun with it!
PS We did it! Please give us your Trivia input by participating in the poll at the right! Or, you may leave your comments on this post. ZZ

DIABETES Part 5
Well, my momma said I was a bad boy yesterday afternoon. My momma left the cupboard door open when she took out my girlfriend Cassie's Easter treats. My momma and her momma talked for a while about the weather and that Spring really needed to get in gear.
When my momma came inside, she saw the cupboard door open, and saw me drinking lots of water. Did I mention that the cupboard is the one where she keeps my doggie food? Momma was very disgusted with herself.
Anyway, the rest of the afternoon, I needed to go out to potty about every hour; and I had a couple of accidents in the house. I was very restless and my mommas could tell that I didn't feel good. Plus I was drinking constantly.
By supper time, momma didn't know how much (if any) doggie food she should give me because she didn't know how much I had eaten; same thing with the insulin. So she gave me about a third of the normal amount of food, and the regular amount of insulin.
During the night, I had to go out every hour and a half or so. I had to go so badly that one time I just peed on the dining room floor while momma was opening the door.
It's now about an hour before we would normally get up. My momma stayed downstairs, hoping that everyone else would be able to get some sleep. My momma is glad we will all be home this morning so that she can keep an eye on me. The blood sugar should level out soon. I just want to feel better and get some sleep.

FIVE YEARS LATER
Excerpted from a blog post by Barack Obama:
"Five years ago, President George W. Bush launched a war that should never have been authorized based on faulty premises and bad intelligence.
"This war has now lasted longer than World War I, World War II, or the Civil War.
"Nearly four thousand Americans have given their lives. Thousands more have been wounded. Even under the best-case scenarios, this war will cost American taxpayers well over a trillion dollars.
"And where are we for all of this sacrifice?
"We are less safe and less able to shape events abroad. We are divided at home, and our alliances around the world have been strained. The threats of a new century have roiled the waters of peace and stability, and yet America remains anchored in Iraq."

MR. OBAMA'S PROFILE IN COURAGE
An editorial from today's New York Times:
"There are moments - increasingly rare in risk-abhorrent modern campaigns - when politicians are called upon to bare their fundamental beliefs. In the best of these moments, the speaker does not just salve the current political wound, but also illuminates larger, troubling issues that the nation is wrestling with.
"Inaugural addresses by Abraham Lincoln and Franklin D. Roosevelt come to mind, as does John F. Kennedy's 1960 speech on religion, with its enduring vision of the separation between church and state. Senator Barack Obama, who has not faced such tests of character this year, faced one on Tuesday. It is hard to imagine how he could have handled it better.
"Mr. Obama had to address race and religion, the two most toxic subjects in politics. He was as powerful and frank as Mitt Romney was weak and calculating earlier this year in his attempt to persuade the religious right that his Mormonism is Christian enough for them.
"It was not a moment to which Mr. Obama came easily. He hesitated uncomfortably long in dealing with the controversial remarks of his spiritual mentor and former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr., who denounced the United States as endemically racist, murderous and corrupt.
"On Tuesday, Mr. Obama drew a bright line between his religious connection with Mr. Wright, which should be none of the voters' business, and having a political connection, which would be very much their business. The distinction seems especially urgent after seven years of a president who has worked to blur the line between church and state.
"Mr. Obama acknowledged his strong ties to Mr. Wright. He embraced him as the man "who helped introduce me to my Christian faith," and said that "as imperfect as he may be, he has been like family to me."
"Wisely, he did not claim to be unaware of Mr. Wright's radicalism or bitterness, disarming the speculation about whether he personally heard the longtime pastor of his church speak the words being played and replayed on YouTube. Mr. Obama said Mr. Wright's comments were not just potentially offensive, as politicians are apt to do, but "rightly offend white and black alike" and are wrong in their analysis of America. But, he said, many Americans "have heard remarks from your pastors, priests or rabbis with which you strongly disagree."
"Mr. Obama's eloquent speech should end the debate over his ties to Mr. Wright since there is nothing to suggest that he would carry religion into government. But he did not stop there. He put Mr. Wright, his beliefs and the reaction to them into the larger context of race relations with an honesty seldom heard in public life.
"Mr. Obama spoke of the nation's ugly racial history, which started with slavery and Jim Crow, and continues today in racial segregation, the school achievement gap and discrimination in everything from banking services to law enforcement.
"He did not hide from the often-unspoken reality that people on both sides of the color line are angry. "For the men and women of Reverend Wright's generation," he said, "the memories of humiliation and fear have not gone away, nor the anger and the bitterness of those years."
"At the same time, many white Americans, Mr. Obama noted, do not feel privileged by their race. "In an era of stagnant wages and global competition, opportunity comes to be seen as a zero-sum game," he said, adding that both sides must acknowledge that the other's grievances are not imaginary.
"He made the powerful point that while these feelings are not always voiced publicly, they are used in politics. "Anger over welfare and affirmative action helped forge the Reagan coalition," he said.
"Against this backdrop, he said, he could not repudiate his pastor. "I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community," he said. "I can no more disown him than I can my white grandmother." That woman whom he loves deeply, he said, "once confessed her fear of black men who passed by her on the street" and more than once "uttered racial or ethnic stereotypes that made me cringe."
"There have been times when we wondered what Mr. Obama meant when he talked about rising above traditional divides. This was not such a moment.
"We can't know how effective Mr. Obama's words will be with those who will not draw the distinctions between faith and politics that he drew, or who will reject his frank talk about race. What is evident, though, is that he not only cleared the air over a particular controversy - he raised the discussion to a higher plane."

PRIUS DASHBOARD
My momma says the dashboard of her new car is amazing. There is a touch monitor on which she can see the real-time fuel consumption and other energy info, audio info, climate info, navigation info, hands-free BlueTooth info. She says that there is so much going on, she'll probably have an accident while monitoring all the information (which translates as playing with all the toys).

NEW CAR TOMORROW
Well, one of my mommas went and bought a Toyota Prius today. She said it's a green car, but she also said it's silver.... I'm confused. I guess I don't care as long as the color will compliment my Corgi handsomeness.
Momma will pick up her new car after work tomorrow. I hope she will take me for a ride (but not to the vet!) when she gets home. I will look so cool! I'll have my momma take my picture so you can see how handsome I look!

BEST GREEN CAR OF THE YEAR
The gas/electric Toyota Prius hybrid retains its lock on this category for the fifth straight year.
Consumer Reports' Top Picks must meet these stringent requirements:
Road tests: Each Top Pick scores at or near the top of its category among more than 260 vehicles they have recently tested at their Auto Test Center.
Reliability: Each has an average or better predicted-reliability Rating, based on the problems subscribers reported on almost 1.3 million vehicles in their Annual Car Reliability Survey.
Safety: Top Picks have performed adequately in overall safety if tested by the government or the insurance industry. Starting this year, they also must provide a critical safety feature, electronic stability control (ESC), either as standard equipment or as a readily available option.
Despite a wave of new hybrid models, the Prius’ 44 mpg overall is still the best CR has measured in any five-passenger car. The interior is roomy and versatile, and the Prius has been very reliable.

BREAKING THE LAST RULE
In a 3/7/08 editorial for The Huffington Post, Gary Hart wrote,
"It will come as a surprise to many people that there are rules in politics. Most of those rules are unwritten and are based on common understandings, acceptable practices, and the best interest of the political party a candidate seeks to lead. One of those rules is this: Do not provide ammunition to the opposition party that can be used to destroy your party's nominee. This is a hyper-truth where the presidential contest is concerned.
"By saying that only she and John McCain are qualified to lead the country, particularly in times of crisis, Hillary Clinton has broken that rule, severely damaged the Democratic candidate who may well be the party's nominee, and, perhaps most ominously, revealed the unlimited lengths to which she will go to achieve power. She has essentially said that the Democratic party deserves to lose unless it nominates her.
"As a veteran of red telephone ads and 'where's the beef' cleverness, I am keenly aware that sharp elbows get thrown by those trailing in the fourth quarter (and sometimes even earlier). "'Politics ain't beanbag,' is the old slogan. But that does not mean that it must also be rule-or-ruin, me-first-and-only-me, my way or the highway. That is not politics. That is raw, unrestrained ambition for power that cannot accept the will of the voters.
"Senator Obama is right to say the issue is judgment, not years in Washington. If Mrs. Clinton loses the nomination, her failure will be traced to the date she voted to empower George W. Bush to invade Iraq. That is not the kind of judgment, or wisdom, required by the leader answering the phone in the night. For her now to claim that Senator Obama is not qualified to answer the crisis phone is the height of irony if not chutzpah, and calls into question whether her primary loyalty is to the Democratic party and the nation or to her own ambition."

WE NEED TO CHANGE OUR MESSAGE TO YOUNG GAY PEOPLE
My mommas found this video on my brudder's blog this morning. The story in the video (from the Ellen Show) is very sad. My mommas hope that if even one person learns from this video, and changes their message, the world will be a better place for all people.

DIABETES Part 4 (continued)
Well my vet called today, to say that my sugar levels for the last two weeks were pretty good! He wants my mommas to increase my insulin from 12 units to 12.5 units; not much of a difference. I could have told him I was feeling a lot better, if he'd asked me. People are so odd sometimes.
Anyway, I thought this good news would result in some celebratory treats at my house. Didn't happen, though; my momma said that "we're not going to wreck your good results by adding more treats to your diet." Hmmm; I'll have to figure out a way to get back at her for this!

DIABETES Part 4
I had to go to the vet on Wednesday, to have some blood drawn for a test that will show my average sugar levels for the last two weeks. While I was there, I also had blood drawn for my annual heart worm check. Doctor Whisler had a tough time getting much blood from my arm; finally, he tried the other arm. Again, not much luck. All this took a while; and everyone was completely and totally charmed by my good manners and cooperation and, of course, my handsomeness. All the assistants kept offering me treats for being such a good, sweet boy. What can I say....
My sister Livi went with me. She also had her heartworm test and her kennelcough shot. She was good too, but I could tell that she was more scared than I. In order to try to help her, I barked the entire time they worked on her. I' sure that made Livi feel much safer.
We should get my test results back this week.
